Rosario Violeta "Charito" Hernández Solis was born in Tondo, Manila on October 6, 1935.  Her dad, Maximo Solis was a newspaper reporter (a notable person in Sariaya, Quezon and from the famous Solis clan in Lipa, Batangas), while her mother, Milagros was a pharmacist in their aunt’s drugstore.  She has two sisters namely Carmen and Yolanda (younger than her) and an older brother, Tristan.  When their father died and their mother got sick of diabetes, they were separated and were adopted by their relatives.  They were only reunited after nine years when their older sister, Carmen got a job to support their family.
